Introductory Post – EMPR200

Hello!

My name is Aurora, I am a student at Queen’s University and am taking a psychology and politics medial. I was inspired to take the EMPR200 employment relations class because as a student with experience in the workforce and to join full time in the future, I believe it is valuable to have a basis of knowledge surrounding the world of work that surrounds us in every job. As someone who wishes to pursue law school after my undergrad I am especially interested in learning about labour and employment law.

The photo I have attached is of the beautiful Georgian Bay. This photo represents my love for the Bay as I grew up boating, swimming, and spending my summers here with friends and family.

  1. Hey Aurora! First of all, I LOVE your name! I agree that taking this course, and other EMPR courses, are extremely valuable and provide skills that translate extremely well into the workforce. If you are interested in employment law, I would recommend taking EMPR 210 (if you haven’t already)! EMPR 210 is another course offered online through the Employment Relations Certificate and it focuses explicitly on employment law!

I wish you all the best of luck with your journey to law school and hope that you have a great semester!

  2. Hi Aurora! I agree that this course will provide us with valuable knowledge that we will use in our everyday lives in the workforce. I too am interested in pursuing law school after my undergrad. I am enrolled in the employment relations certificate and I have a few friends in the law certificate, if you’re interested in law and labour and employment law you should check it out!

    1. Hi Natalie! Thanks for your comment. What made you choose to do the employment relations certificate over the law certificate? I am looking into doing the law certificate!

Hope to see you at law school someday!

  3. Hi Aurora!

It seems like we have a lot in common! I am completing my degree in political science and am also excited thinking about law school after my undergrad! Have you taken the online employment law course at Queen’s (EMPR 210)? I took it last semester and really enjoyed it, and so far, it is really helping me understand this course as well! Lastly, I LOVE the Bay! My family is from Manitoulin Island, so I have also grown up spending a lot of time enjoying Georgian Bay with my family and friends, it’s the best! I look forward to working with you in this course, enjoy!
